Product Description
The BMW N55B30 is a 3.0-liter (2979 cc) inline 6-cylinder turbocharged gasoline engine produced from 2009 to 2018, and was widely used across BMW’s lineup—including the 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7 Series, as well as the X-series crossovers. It also served as the foundation for several high-performance versions developed by Alpina.
This engine was the first BMW inline-6 to combine twin-scroll turbocharging, Valvetronic variable valve lift, and direct fuel injection, offering improved efficiency and throttle response over its predecessor, the N54.
There are three main N55B30 variants:
It produces 306 hp and 400 Nm of torque.
It delivers between 320 and 326 hp with 450 Nm of torque.
It (Alpina version) offers 360 to 370 hp and 465 Nm of torque.
It is praised for its balance of performance, refinement, and reliability, and served as a benchmark for turbocharged inline-6 engines in the premium segment.
