Product Description
The 1.5-liter BMW B38 is a 3-cylinder turbocharged engine series that has been in production since 2013. It is used across a wide range of BMW models with different drivetrains: B38A15 for front-wheel-drive, B38B15 for rear-wheel-drive, and B38K15 for hybrid applications. The engine is also found in Mini models, with B38A15A as the 1.5-liter variant and B38A12A as the 1.2-liter version.
This engine features direct fuel injection, an 11:1 compression ratio, variable valve timing (double-VANOS), and a single-scroll turbocharger with the world's first aluminum turbine housing, manufactured by Continental. In the 1.2-liter version, bore and stroke measure 78 mm × 83.6 mm, while the 1.5-liter version has a bore of 82 mm and a stroke of 94.6 mm. The B38 engine family is known for its compact size, fuel efficiency, and lightweight construction.
