Product Description

The 2.6-liter Hyundai D4BB diesel engine was produced from 1993 to 2004 and was used in both commercial vehicles and passenger models such as the Hyundai H1 minibus and the Galloper SUV. It is essentially a licensed version of the well-known Mitsubishi 4D56 diesel engine. This naturally aspirated engine features a cast iron inline-4 (R4) cylinder block, an aluminum 8-valve cylinder head, and a prechamber fuel system. It uses a belt-driven timing system, lacks hydraulic lifters, and runs without turbocharging.

With a displacement of 2,607 cc, the D4BB engine has a bore and stroke of 91.1 mm × 100 mm and a high compression ratio of 21.0:1. It produces between 78–83 hp and 162–168 Nm of torque, depending on configuration. The engine complies with EURO 1 and EURO 2 emission standards and consumes approximately 10.5–11.5 liters per 100 km in vehicles like the Hyundai H1 (2000 model). Recommended engine oil grades are 5W-40 or 10W-40, with an oil capacity of 6.5 liters. The dry weight of the engine is approximately 200.8 kg, and its estimated lifespan is around 450,000 km.
