The Mercedes OM642 is a 3.0-liter (2,987 cc) V6 diesel engine equipped with a Common Rail fuel system and in production since 2005. It has been widely used across the Mercedes lineup—from C-Class to G-Class and Vito minibuses—as well as in Chrysler and Jeep vehicles under the EXL designation. This engine comes in several tuning levels:

DE 30 LA Red. (also known as 280 CDI / 300 CDI): 184–204 hp, 400–500 Nm

DE 30 LA (also known as 320 CDI / 350 CDI): 211–235 hp, 440–540 Nm

LS DE 30 LA (also known as 350 CDI): 231–265 hp, 540–620 Nm

These variants offer a range of outputs tailored for different applications while maintaining the core characteristics of strong torque and reliability.
