Product Description
The 2.4-liter Mitsubishi 4G64 (also known as G64B) gasoline engine has been in production since 1985 and is used across various Mitsubishi models and by other manufacturers, including Hyundai (as the G4JS). This 2,351 cc engine features a bore and stroke of 86.5 mm × 100 mm (3.41 in × 3.94 in), with configurations including early 8-valve SOHC and later 16-valve SOHC and DOHC versions. All versions employ multi-point fuel injection (MPFI), and some were later offered with gasoline direct injection (GDI). Power output varies by application, from 152–155 hp (113–116 kW; 154–157 PS) and 221 N⋅m (163 lb⋅ft) of torque, commonly seen in models like the Mitsubishi L200 and Chrysler Sebring/Stratus. The engine features fracture-split forged powder metal connecting rods in some versions. The 16-valve DOHC and SOHC variants are interference engines, while the 8-valve SOHC version is non-interference. An LPG variant producing 115 hp (86 kW; 117 PS) at 5,000 rpm was introduced in the Mitsubishi Canter from March 1996.
