First launched in the RAV4 for the U.S. and Canadian markets and later replacing the 2AZ-FE in the Camry in 2009 with an 11% fuel economy improvement, it quickly became a global engine used in markets such as Japan, North America, Australia, New Zealand, China, Korea, Southeast Asia, and the Middle East. Featuring an aluminum design with a service mass of 147 kg (including oil and coolant) and equipped with the Dual VVT-i system, the 2AR-FE is valued for its efficiency and versatility.
